The weather improved during April but the course was still wet which meant we looked for projects that did not require heavy equipment on the course.
We are averaging 12/13 volunteers every Monday morning which helps to keep our projects rolling. More volunteers are always welcome as it shares the work load.
We have continued with our paving projects with the pavers finished on the front lawn where the garden furniture is. We are now working on the Wedding garden area where pavers are being laid to improve the look of the Wedding Garden area.
The 18th Out of bounds area has been cleared and the lattice timber at the back of the clubhouse has been repaired. Rubbish and loose timber pickup has continued with some high winds bringing down many branches.
Hedge maintenance has continued and trimming of shrubs where necessary. The trimming of the 18th hedge has been completed and the hedge is now at a manageable level to keep trimmed low and is reshooting nicely.
Gardening maintenance has continued with weed removal, mulching with special attention made to the front gardens , the 6th Native garden and 6th tranquility garden, trimming of the streletzias. More donated plants have been added to the 14th greenspace. The camellias around the course are putting on a good show especially in Camellia Way where the avenue 17th to 18th is lovely to walk through with the shrubs out in full flower. The mandevillas and hibiscus have been treated for aphid attack and scale and the hedge at the 4th green has been weeded and sprayed for grub attack.
Some more weed removal was done on the fairways and plumbing repairs in the clubhouse have been done as required. A big thank you goes to our supporting members who have donated cash and plants for our gardens so that we can continue with our various projects.
Firewood orders are coming in at a steady rate so if members require firewood for this winter get your orders in to Peter Martin to avoid disappointment.
Our thanks go to “Barto” for supplying our morning tea that he supplies every Monday Morning.
F-Troop meets at the green keepers shed at 7.00am on most Monday mornings with morning tea approximately 10.15am. Feel free to join us if you have 3 hours or so of time to volunteer your assistance. Casual helpers are also welcomed.
