Welcome to the cooler weather. Days are getting colder and shorter. It is appropriate to remind all members of the need to play “Ready Golf”. With the shorter days the total field size for the mens’ competitions have been reduced to ensure everyone can enjoy a round of golf and finish their rounds without turning the lights on. On some occasions there may not be vacancies in the field however the new MiClub system allows members to place their names on a reserves list. Immediately a vacancy becomes available members will receive an email to advise of the time available. Should members not wish to take up this time slot they should immediately go onto MiClub website or contact the Pro shop and cancel allowing another member on the waiting list the opportunity to play.
The match committee has recently introduce a temporary local rule allowing members to place their ball on the green no nearer the hole to avoid areas of the green which has been repaired. To clarify this rule if there is a bare patch or areas on the green where the grass growth is inconsistent members are also permitted to apply this local rule.
After the heavy rains of recent months there is some concern regarding the usage of carts. Members are reminded not to drive their carts within 10 metres of the edges of greens. The surrounds of the greens are still soft and there has been some damage caused by carts. Another area where there is concern is that access to the 17th tee is not via the rear of the 16th green. Should any members have any concerns with the use of carts please contact the Pro shop or the captain.
The club in partnership with JNJG are preparing a Junior/Cadet programme. It is anticipated that the programme will be fully operational by spring. Jason Millers is heavily involved in the programme development with the support of the Board. Please contact Jason or myself if you have any suggestions or can offer assistance in any way.
Happy Golfing
