Summary of works
May brought with it 9mm of rain, 80mm down on the average rainfall for the month.
- May 2018………………Rainfall (Average 88mm)
- June 2018………………Rainfall (Average 126mm)
The average temperature for May was 22 degrees.
With most days around the 22 degree mark and little rain, all turf areas are performing well. The morning temperatures have stayed around the 10 degrees mark, meaning the disease and insect pressure has gone. Preventive applications of fungicide will be applied monthly as part of our program to reduce the risk of getting winter disease such as Winter Fusarium and even Dollar Spot and Brown Patch.
The greens are currently getting cut at 3mm.
The dams on the 10th/18th fairway and the dam on the 2nd fairway have had their vegetation removed. The machine used was a 25 Tonne long reach excavator. The cleaning of the dams took 24 hours spread over 3 days. The removal of the waste form the side of the dams is a slow process; we are using a bobcat and a 2 tonne trailer, and really only have Mondays to do it.
All the 100 meter markers in the middle of the fairways have been removed. New distance markers on the side of the fairways are currently being installed.
