Well, so much for some good golfing weather in March. When it starts raining it just never seems to know when to stop. Last year our St Patrick’s Day got washed out, and so it was again this year. What a shame as it is generally a good fun day.
Although we were also unable to play the Green Ball day, we will look to reschedule this day to a Thursday to be determined. First round of the Interclub Match Play was postponed due to the condition of the courses to be played. All in all, not a good start to the season.
On another note, slow play is beginning to become a real problem. On the days that competitions were actually played in March, we had some groups that fell way back in the field. This is not acceptable. Not only do earlier starters give up waiting for the presentation and leave the club, it also means that the committee members doing the results are left twiddling their thumbs waiting for the final cards to come in.
I remind you that it is incumbent upon all members of the group to maintain your position in the field by keeping up with the group in front. Penalties will be applied. Good golfing.
