Ladies Captain September and spring has sprung. Although rain once again had an impact on our golfing calendar, overall the weather for August has been quite brilliant.
Veterans’ Day was an outstanding success, due in no small way to the thorough organizational abilities of our priceless Veterans’ delegate Marianne Lanham. This year a new category for Vets was introduced – SSSV (Super Super Senior Vet – I think) – our over 80s. It really is a sign of the times when we have almost as many in the 80 + category as in the 50 to 59’s and certainly more than in the non vets’.
Our postponed Gosford Bowl, Bronze Salver and Long Markers’ day finally found a fine day. Once again I would like to thank our fantastic Social committee for the lovely morning tea that was provided for both our playing members and visitors. The bright sunshine provided a great day for golf, and although not all the golf matched the weather, I think a good day was had by all. Congratulations to all the winners. Scratch winners for the day were: Di Thomlinson – Gosford Bowl; Sharon Anderson – Bronze Salver: Beulah Cant – Long Markers’.
As normal for end of August the course was due for renovation. Marianne again stepped up and organized a bus trip to Hawks Nest for some of our Lady members. All those who went had a lovely day. The Hawks Nest course is always a pleasure to play and again the weather was on our side. Great day – thanks Marianne.
Thank you Ladies and good golfing
