The festive season is now over and we look forward to another great golfing year. I hope all had a safe and joyful festive season with friends and family. The 2017 programme has been completed and will be available in the second or third week of January. It is not proposed to print a large quantity as all the information contained in the programme is now on the club website. New programmes will be available from the pro shop. The new programme will not have January and February for the following year as in previous programmes.
The club website has also been updated with all the Local Rules. These Local rules also appear in the Proshop window/Notice Board. Of special note is the introduction of two new local Rules regarding the Hedge between the 18th Green and 10th tee and the accidental movement of golf ball on the putting green.
The new Greens committee have been very active with a programme of works for 2017. Special attention is being given to the bunkers. The greens staff have to be congratulated in keeping our greens and course in good shape during the recent hot weather. They have done extremely well in managing our water resources when we have had only two days decent rain in the past two months. January marks the commencement of the men’s district and Super Seniors Pennants. We have entered teams in A,B and C Grades and two teams in the Super Seniors. We have not entered a Junior team but planning is in place to have a Junior pennant team for 2018.
During the recent months the pro shop staff and myself have been active in policing the pace of play. The major concern is that groups are not keeping up with the group in front of them. We appreciate that lost balls occur and other events happen during the course of play but this does not happen on every hole. Your assistance is requested in ensuring that we all enjoy a round of golf with no delays. It also should be noted that players must report to the pro shop 15 minutes before their allotted team time.
