I am pleased to say that for the first time in three years we were actually able to play St Patricks day. If we had opted for the previous week to hold, you guessed it, again it would have been washed out. Is it that Paddy wants to emulate the Irish weather on his day – maybe! Perhaps it was because it was also Joker Day that he decided the joke was on us and let have a lovely day. I hope the fantastic field that played all enjoyed the day. Even Green Ball day got a run this year, and again it was a good, fund day. Although I must admit that our number of green balls has been considerably depleted.
The first Medal round of the year was washed out and will now be played on Tuesday 24th April, so note this down in your diaries.
The Top Ten shootout has seen the first round played. Scores are recorded on the sheet in the Ladies locker room. Certainly didn’t see a lot of startlingly good scores, obviously the best is yet to come as we all swing into the new season.
I would like to thank Kieran for the fantastic clinic he provided for our ladies who have nominated for this year’s Pennants. I think Kieran actually got a bit of a shock when he realised he had such a large group for the clinic, but he had us all hanging on his every word, maybe just trying to understand him, though I am sure we all walked away with a better knowledge of short play. Thank you also to the Ladies of the committee who provided the lovely morning tea that followed. Pennants commence on Monday 9th April, good luck to all.
Ladies please, when putting your names down for competition, could you remember to fill from the top down. It really does create a problem when we have large gaps in the field, born about by ladies that wish to play late. Our starting times will get later as the cooler weather starts to overtake us, but for the present please do not leave big gaps.
Good golfing.
