August, wow I can’t believe the year and winter are disappearing so rapidly. For once there is no way I can complain about the rain. July has been beautiful weather for golf, I have a feeling there will be a price to be paid sometime soon.
Firstly, congratulations to Sharon Anderson on her win in the Singles Knockout. It was a hard fought match with Sharon defeating Carolyn Buttsworth on the 17th hole. Well done to you both and thank you to all the ladies that participated.
One of our very important days of the year was held in July, it was Grandmas’ and Great Grandmas’ Day. With our ageing population of golfers, there are not too many of us that do not fall into at least one of these categories. Thanks again go to June Bowen for donating the special trophies for this event. Congratulations to Fay Bailey and Linda Rogers on winning Grandma and Great Grandma respectively.
Our annual Wyong visit has again come and gone. This year a large contingent of Gosford ladies went to Wyong. I was sorry I was unable to be there, but I have heard that it was a very good day, despite the fact that once again we lost the trophy to Wyong. Oh well, we will try again next year. I would like to thank Wyong for their fantastic hospitality.
The District Foursomes Championships was held at Everglades on Monday 24th. I was proud to see so many Gosford ladies in attendance. Congratulations to Marianne Lanham and Sheena Asken for their outstanding performance that resulted in a playoff for the championship. Unfortunately they were defeated in the playoff, but a fantastic effort, well done.
Thank you Ladies and good golfing
