Ladies News – September 2018
September and spring has sprung. The weather for August has been brilliant. I know we really need some rain, but personally I could take this kind of weather all year, just perfect for golf.
Veterans’ Day was an outstanding success. Once again we have a new Veterans’ delegate. Sally Hopkins took over the position from Helen Potter. As we have come to expect from our Vet’s delegates, it was another fantastic day. Well done, and thank you Sally.
The annual battle between President and Captains teams was contested. Although my Captains team put up a great battle, I am sorry to say that the Presidents team were victorious once again. Oh well, at least it was a lovely day and I believe everyone enjoyed the American Foursomes game that we played. Captains team – better luck next year.
The final of the Singles Knockout has now been played. It was a great game and my congratulations go to Carolyn Buttsworth for a well deserved win over Sheena Asken. Both players played extremely well and it was a pleasure to watch.
Gosford hosted the CCWGA Charity Day on Monday 13th August. Our Gosford ladies certainly did us proud by being overall winners on the day. A special congratulations to Yvonne Cumming and Elizabeth McNamara for their Division wins in the Brooch. Well done to all.
Normally at the end of August the course would have undergone the green renovations. As you should all now know, these have been put back to the end of October. As the very sandy greens were the expectation when the programme was put together, a fun day was scheduled for the Thursday. 3 clubs only was the order of the day. For those that played I think they all enjoyed the challenge and had some fun. Once again, amazing scores which leads us to the question as to why we need to lug around up to 14 clubs every other day!!!
Invitation day is coming up on the 18th September. It would be great if we could have a nearly full field. Please invite your friends and acquaintances from other clubs to join us in a fun team event, a Las Vegas Ambrose – otherwise known as a Dropout Ambrose. It will be an 8.30 shotgun start and the sheet is already down in the Ladies Locker room and filling fast, so don’t delay. Take note that if you do have invitees, we will need their Golflink number in order to put them into the system and issue cards, so please remember to obtain their number and please put down on the sheet with their name.
Thank you Ladies and good golfing
