June already and, I have no doubt it will be bringing some cold weather with it. We certainly can’t complain though as May gave us some beautiful weather for golf.
Open Day on the 15th was very successful. We had a fantastic full field, and I would like to congratulate everyone for keeping the field moving so well. The trade table and raffles raised a very healthy sum for the District Charity. Thank you to all our wonderfully generous members that contributed, spent, and of cause, helped out on the day. Many thanks also to the Ladies Social Committee members that provided a very welcome morning tea prior to play, and of cause to the Ladies Committee that together make a great team in organising the day. Last but certainly not least a big thank you to our very generous sponsor – Henry Kendall Gardens Retirement Village. The feedback from our visitors was extremely positive, a great day had by all.
The final of the 4BBB Knockout was played on Thursday 24th, and I would like to congratulate our new champions Sue Scobie and Sharon Anderson. Commiserations to our runners-up Norma Wilks and Kay Walker, who put up a great fight taking the match to the 18th.
Pennants has now finished for 2018 and although Gosford has not figured in the place getters, we certainly did not disgrace ourselves. It was great to see so many new faces giving Pennants a try and doing very well. I hope everyone enjoyed the experience and will consider playing again next year. Thanks go to our two great captains Helen Potter and Sheena Asken. Congratulations to the two winning teams Kooindah and Morisset.
Ladies Foursomes Championship is coming up on Tuesday 26th June. The nomination sheet is down in the ladies locker room, so please get your names down. If you do not have a partner at this point, put your name down anyway as you never know who else may be looking for a game. There is a cost of $15 per head to be paid in advance to our treasurer Kay Baillie.
Good golfing.
Rhonda Robertson
Ladies Captain
