The hottest month of the year has just finished with record fields. It is hoped that February is a little cooler and we get some much needed rain. Congratulations must go out to Dave and his team in keeping the course as green as possible. Although the greens have been slow at least we still have them. Members should have noticed that sand has been purchased and placed around the course. A full programme has been developed by the Greens Committee for all aspects of the course including the bunkers.
The 2017 programme has been printed and is available in the office. Only lim-ited numbers have been printed so get your copy early. To assist the members the golf programme will be placed on the website. Also on the website in the golf calendar section, the programme for the next two months will be available. Also in the calendar will also be all the social bookings so that members can see when the course is available should they wish to invite a friend and have a social round.
Members are reminded by the recent decision by Golf Australia to adjust the Golflink system setting the DSR at one below the par rating for the course. A separate email has been sent by the Director of Golf to all members.
The mens’ pennant season has reached the halfway point after the completion of four rounds with our teams looking forward to avenging their losses and qual-ify for the finals series. I wish them well and know that they will all bring their “A” game.
The Super Senior men’s competition has played two matches and are perform-ing very well in a very tough competition.
With the record fields In December and January and with our increased mens membership the issue of slow play is an ever increasing problem. This will get worse with the onset of winter and less daylight. With the size fields it will be almost impossible to complete the rounds for the afternoon tee times as they will finish in the dark.
To combat this it is proposed to introduce a penalty system commencing the first week in March. The specifications of which, we be emailed to all members personally in due course.
Before the introduction of this system please contact me and I would be only too pleased to discuss your concerns or if you need any additional information.
