During the month of August we have been very busy cleaning up after all the wild August winds. Fortunately our numbers of volunteers is still averaging 13 to 14 each Monday even though the weather has been very chilly for our early morning starts.
The firewood preparation has continued so we can build up our stocks for next year.
Tree maintenance has continued around the course when possible and a lot of loose timber and rubbish pick was done after some of the high winds experienced this month. The tree pruning on the 6th tee has raised some issues with members who are convinced the tree could not survive. This tree is already showing signs of recovery as it comes out of its dormant stage. If you look carefully at the tree branches you can see many new shoots emerging that will form the new shape of the tree and we are looking forward to good results.
Hedge maintenance has continued and trimming of shrubs where necessary. The hedge at the 4th tee has now had the weaker shrubs replaced and we are looking forward to a good result there. More plants have been added to the red hedge at the 10th tee.
Gardening maintenance has continued with weed removal and watering when necessary. The BBQ area has continued to be maintained as well as the area around the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, Wedding Garden and Practice nets. The new Xanadu Garden is still a work in progress. Camellias have been fertilized and gardens kept watered.
Clubhouse maintenance, plumbing, regular cleaning of the bush toilets, replacement of lattice work at the back of the clubhouse were among this month’s projects,
A big thank you goes to our supporting members who have donated cash and plants for our gardens so that we can continue with our various projects.
Our thanks go to “Barto” for supplying our morning tea that he supplies every Monday Morning.
F-Troop meets at the green keepers shed at 7.00am on most Monday mornings with morning tea approximately 10.15am. Feel free to join us if you have 3 hours or so of time to volunteer your assistance. Casual helpers are also welcomed.
