December was a great month and helped us get back on track financially up 65% on last year. This was on the back of some great results from the Pro Shop which profit was up by 20%. The other area that performed really well was the Bistro and Functions, our profit was over 12 times what we achieved in December 2016.
Whilst we are not completely out of the woods yet, we are definitely moving in the right direction with a half a million dollar turn around over the last three years. This can be attributed to a dedicated and forward think board led by President Paul Scholberg. Unfortunately Greg Harrison’s tenure as the Director of Finance has come to an end. I would like to commend him on his dedication and passion to the club, essentially saving the club from insolvency. Whilst his skill set will be sorely missed on the board, he has laid the ground work for the Club’s continued prosperity. If you want to say thank you to Greg he enjoys smiths chips and drinks XXXX gold.
We have had several staff changes recently but this will stabilise over the next few weeks. I would like to give a special mention to Jason Millers who unfortunately for, has gone back to his previous role in retirement real estate. Never fear he is still volunteering is time to our juniors and will still be around the club. If you are in the market he can sort out your retirement needs as well. We would like to welcome Ben O’Meally as a Duty Manager in the club house, Preekita Murphy as our new Events and Marketing Coordinator, and Gerard Boon as our new Head Chef. All these staff members come with a wealth of experience and expertise so lets make them feel welcome.
There are several changes and exciting projects happening over the coming months. Some of these include clearing dams, painting areas in the club house, a new menu in the Bistro and moving to a one tee system for the Men’s comp. These changes are to ensure our future prosperity along with improving the facilities and experiences for our members and their guests.
Happy Golfing
