The colder weather is among us and we need to make adjustments not only to what we wear but also what happens on and around the course. The major change is the timesheets for the men’s competitions on Saturday and Wednesdays. With decreasing daylight the number of available tee times have been reduced so members are advised to get in early to get their desired tee spot.
There has been considerable amount of work completed on the course.
- Dams on the third and 10th have been cleared.
- New Bunker bike has been purchased and members will now appreciate the improved condition of the sand in our bunkers
- Greens are now being cut at 3mm which is the lowest we can safely cut them. The greens are the quickest they have been for some years and the green staff must be congratulated.
Course renovations.
The greens committee have decided to move the course renovations from the end of September to the end of October. This will mean that the club Championship, Gosford Amateur, CCDGA Seniors day will not be affected by cored greens. As such the programmes for September and October will be changed . I will advise in the next newsletter of the changes.
Masters Pennants.
At the time of writing the team is undefeated having beaten Wyong and Toukley. We wish them continued success
Super Seniors Pennants.
Nomination sheet is in the pro shop. Although competition is not scheduled until August/September members are requested to nominate.
Ladies Pennants
The pennant season has finished and all or representatives must be congratulated in the spirit they represented the club
Mixed Team Series
Entries available fin the Pro Shop. Cost has increased slightly from last year. Get your teams in early
CCDGA Seniors Week of Golf
The event schedule for Gosford is for Thursday 13th September. This is being advertised on the CCDGA website as well as Golf NSW.
Club Match play.
The club match play championship has commenced. Due to lack of nominations we have only conducted a A grade event with some of the B graders making up the draw.
I would appreciate feedback from members of perhaps re introducing a club match play championship over the field where all grades can play and matches are based on handicap and the match play index.
2018 Mixed Foursomes
Congratulation to Colin and Lauren Matterson on winning this championship.
Slow Play
There have been a number of instances where members have not acted appropriately. Members are advised that if they have problems regarding slow ply they should report this to the Pro Shop where all necessary action will be taken.
When on the course members are reminded of the following
- Please repair all divots on the greens,
- Please take a sand bucket
- Please rake the bunkers and leave the rakes in the middle of the bunkers
- Please keep up with the group in front
- Please stick to the ready golf principles
- Please do not drive carts in arears where they are prohibited.
