The initiation period is over and its now down to the hard work. I would like to thank all members for making me welcome as Captain.
November marks the Men’s Foursome championship which is the final mens club championship. My congratulations to the winners being Dan and Matt Snelson.
On the representative front Gosford was represented by Helen Potter, Ted Roberts, Michele Kennett, Vivienne Twelftree, Geoff Hall and David Scott held at the Challenge Cup held at Breakers. The Challenge cup is contested over the 10 clubs on the coast with A,B and C grade man and woman in each grade. Needless to say the team performed well and won the Challenge cup. Well done
Our Juniors are also performing well with Jamison Fitzgerald representing the District in a 4Way competition held at Newcastle. Riley Millers contested the Schools Championship held at Shelley Beach and won the overall nett. Well done to both.
The programme for 2017 is completed and is currently at the printers. Members should note that the programme for the remainder of the year is on the website. It is proposed to always have the website up to date for all future golf events.
Members have raised their concerns regarding the condition of the course. The major areas of concern are slow greens and the state of the bunkers. In regards to the speed of the greens this has been done to conserve the greens and ensure we have greens for the remainder of summer. I am certain we can make them faster but in cutting the greens we are in danger of losing them should we have a sustained period of heat. You will note the level of the dam on the third hole and appreciate we are in desperate need of rain. The issue of the bunkers has been referred to the Greens Committee and a works programme will be submitted .
The Mens A,B and C Grade teams have been selected and I wish them well for the Pennnat series.
I would like to take the opportunity to wish all members the compliments of the season.
