This will be my final “Captain’s Comments” as my term as Captain finishes on Tuesday October 11. I would like to thank all members who have given me great support over my twelve years as captain. It truly has been a pleasure and an honour to be Captain of Gosford Golf Club.
Upon reflection I think the best part of being in this position is that I got to know most of the members of the club, and made a multitude of good friends as a result. This club is made up of hundreds of wonderful people. There are a number of new members at the moment who I have not had the pleasure of getting to know, but I hope to do that over the coming months even though I will not be in the position.
I would like to wish the incoming Captain fair weather and good sailing, and to assure him that any assistance I can give will be there if needed.
Both the Ladies’ and Men’s championships are to be played throughout October and I wish all competitors good fortune in those events.
The Men’s Foursomes Championship is to be played on November 6.
Please nominate in the Pro-shop asap, and don’t forget the 8am shotgun starts on Melbourne Cup day for both Ladies and Men.
The Gosford GC Open Amateur & Orange Bowl was played on September 24. Michael wade from Charlestown GC won the open Amateur with a fine one under par round of 70. The team event in the Orange Bowl was won by the Shelly Beach team of Corey Jones, Jake Kable, Scott Armstrong & Tyson May with a score of 314.
Congratulations to all who played.
